These are incredible. Pictures of the exact same indoor and outdoor locations in Detroit, separated by years varying from 100 to just a few decades or less. Cool technology and a stunning story. As much as they generally show the citys demise, others show its slow rebirth. The most poignant, though, are the areas that were sites of the 1967 riots that are now desolate. Consider that, as bad as the rioting was, those were also once thriving business districts in which both blacks and whites engaged in commerce. They are now....not. My heart remains in my hometown, ruined mostly by power-seeking politicians and their rent-seeking cronies (both corporate and union), but coming back again thanks to residents, both in the city and in the suburbs, whose values are echoed in the blue-collar, hard working, lunch pail modesty of its greatest athletes: Yzerman, Kaline, Trammell, Dumars, Lidstrom, Calvin Johnson, et.al.
