These are incredibly bold attacks in a totalitarian communist state known for its brutal repression of even petition gatherers or those thinking of forming an opposition party. I have always thought China is one of the more hyped economic success stories - the math simply doesnt work and never in history has a people tasted economic freedom without eventually demanding political freedom. Throw in the unthinkable size of the population and the centrifugal and ethnic tensions - all suppressed artificially by a central government that seems intent on holding onto and settling with Han territories that are not theirs (such as Tibet) and you have the potential for either a USSR type break up or a long, nasty terrorism and counter insurgency struggle.
