These are some thoughts that were from my brother Dan Kyle, a message he preached a few of weeks ago. (Acts 24:24 KJV) And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ. (Acts 24:25 KJV) And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee. Easy to Read Bible Acts 24:24-25 (24) After a few days Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was a Jew. Felix asked for Paul to be brought to him. He listened to Paul talk about believing in Christ Jesus. (25) But Felix became afraid when Paul spoke about things like doing right, self-control, and the judgment that will come in the future. He said, Go away now. When I have more time, I will call for you. His conscience was told him what he should do but he just didn’t want to make that decision, go away and I’ll call for you he said. Are you a Felix? First, let’s talk about righteousness, what does the Bible have to say about us, humans, people of all races and nationalities? We are all in the same boat. (Isa 64:6 KJV) But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. (Isa 64:7 KJV) And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities. Or do you think that God is just a creation of man, or are you one as it has been said, God created man in His image, man turned around and recreated God in man’s image. Man has a tendency to want to make God into what we want him to be, a big Teddy bear in the sky, all loving all forgiving, but that is not all of what God is. Yes, he is forgiving, yes, he is loving, but He is God, He is just, He will judge. (Psa 14:1 KJV) To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. (Psa 14:2 KJV) The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. (Psa 14:3 KJV) They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Thankfully God has made a way for us; Jesus lived a sinless life and yet received the punishment of death for us. The righteousness of Jesus has been imputed to us by faith in Him. Just as with Abraham, (Rom 4:3 KJV) For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. (Rom 4:5 KJV) But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. (Rom 4:20 KJV) He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; (Rom 4:21 KJV) And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. (Rom 4:22 KJV) And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. (Rom 4:23 KJV) Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; (Rom 4:24 KJV) But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; (Rom 4:25 KJV) Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification. Jesus is my righteousness, and through my faith in Him I am justified. What about temperance or self-control? We lack it: (Gen 6:5 KJV) And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. (Eccl 7:20 KJV) For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. (Jer 13:23 KJV) Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil. (James 1:14 KJV) But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. (James 1:15 KJV) Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. It is God that draws us to Himself, not being His will that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (2 Pet 3:9 KJV) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (John 6:44 KJV) No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. (John 12:32 KJV) And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. (John 12:33 KJV) This he said, signifying what death he should die. (Rom 6:1 KJV) What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? (Rom 6:2 KJV) God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? (Rom 6:3 KJV) Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? (Rom 6:4 KJV) Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. (Rom 6:5 KJV) For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: (Rom 6:6 KJV) Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. (Rom 6:7 KJV) For he that is dead is freed from sin. (Rom 6:8 KJV) Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: (Rom 6:9 KJV) Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. (Rom 6:10 KJV) For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. (Rom 6:11 KJV) Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Rom 6:12 KJV) Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. (Rom 6:13 KJV) Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. (Rom 6:14 KJV) For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. In spite of ourselves and the fact that we deserve judgment: (Heb 9:26 KJV) For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. (Heb 9:27 KJV) And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (Heb 9:28 KJV) So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. As Brother Dan said in his sermon, if you are a Felix you may be in trouble, we don’t know when our time on earth is to end. We may not get another chance but ultimately it is your choice. God has given us the plan, He is asking you as you read this what future do you desire? You may get lucky and have many more opportunities but there is no guarantee you will see tomorrow. (John 3:17 KJV) For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (John 3:18 KJV) He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Thank you Dan for a wonderful message of salvation, I am hopeful that many hear and respond God Bless you.
