These are the 2 texts I have had from Jeff Schultz who is in the field today doing an Air Seal Verification™ on a beautiful new home being built by Randy Jeffcoat Builders in Indigo Run. Jeff @ 10:30am - Tested in good, but found one wide open soffit bay. A bunch of little things and 1 or 2 medium bypasses. Should finish up pretty damn tight! Then...Jeff @ 1:20pm - Took off over 1000 CFM50. Tested out at 1.5 ACH50. Packing up now. This just goes to show you that a simple blower door test does not show you the problems. The home was TIGHTER than most homes before our touch up, but would you want that 1 sq. ft. hole still in your homes exterior shell???? If you are having your homes tightness tested with a blower door, then make sure that you get all you can out of the tools and knowledge available. Dont rely on just a number, the number wont help you when condensation arises!
