These are the moments I live for... This was my favorite moment of the week :-) At a recent Dan Sullivan event, I was sitting at a table with ridiculous entrepreneurs. One of them was an older woman, who pinged my body with discomfort each time I looked at her. During breaks... each time this lady walked by me, I felt a huge pit in my stomach, and the urge to look down. At first I thought it was me feeling uncomfortable... but then I realized I was feeling her discomfort... After the third time she walked by me, I mustered up the courage to say something... Me: Hey... one second... how are you doing today? Lady: Im good. Me: Are you sure? Lady: Yeah... Me: Oh... well every time you walk by me I feel this huge surge of energy and its overwhelming... Lady: (Tears came...) Actually... my father passed away recently. Me: Come over here with me (I pulled her to a corner so she felt safe). Then looked down on her eyes with love and started to tear up too. Lady continues: Its just hard... I try not to think of these thoughts... this isnt like me... to be like this... I run a million dollar business... have 7 kids... this isnt like me... Im usually much stronger. Me: Fill in the blank for me... Strength equals.... Lady: Taking charge, making things happen I interrupt: Strength is controlling things? Lady: Yes. Me, as Im tearing up: What if I told you strength was surrender. And that youre being strong right now. And that this is real strength - to feel - to cry. And what if I told you that this totally like you... the real you... this is you right now... feeling your feelings... and its beautiful... and that other person you think you are... is not you... but someone scared trying to control... thats not really strength. I asked How are you feeling after hearing that? Lady: Like a burden... like Im burdening you with my feelings. Me: Im uplifted right now. Im here for you. I feel the opposite of burdened. Im here and I love this moment. This is my favorite moment of the event. She said... Thank you Dane... I feel a lot better now... thank you.... wait... WHAT do you do?? whats your business?? I said... Haha... nothing related to what we just did... :-) I went on to say a few more things, giving her a hug, letting her know how happy I was she shared and opened up. The world is wide open to you when youre present. In that presence, you can create a life changing impact on others.
