These blankets can tell if you are feeling anxious British Airways has used blankets that change colours when you are feeling anxious to monitor passengers in flights between London and New York. British Airways has tested new blue blankets that change to red when a person is tense, and switch back to blue as soon as the user is relaxed again. So if there’s turbulence, a fellow traveller is being annoying and getting on your nerves, or you don’t like the meals, the ‘happiness blanket’ will alert the crew. The aim is to make sure the travellers well-being is not disturbed during the flight. The hi-tech blankets are embedded with neurosensors interconnected with fibre optics that measure the wearer’s brainwaves, explained Rachel Nuwer over at Smithsonian, and have been described as ‘science-backed mood rings’. A few weeks ago, passengers travelling between London and New York agreed to test the blankets. The results will help the airline improve the in-flight experience by providing important information about the timing of meals and in-flight amenities. “Using technology like the happiness blanket is another way for us to investigate how our customers relaxation and sleep is affected by everything on board, from the amount of light in the cabin, when they eat and their position in the seat, British Airways said in a news release, reported CNN.
