These clams are called QUAHOGS (co-hogs) in New England (the native American name). They are thick shelled clams. The small ones are used for clam sauce in pasta or eaten raw like oysters or used to make clams casino. The big ones are steamed open, chopped in a blender and used to make CHOWDA ;-) or Stuffed clams (Stuffed Quahogs). "Stuffers" are made by mixing the chopped meat with stuffing, put in the clam shell, bake or microwave, open the shell, put a pad of butter in the empty shell, the hot shell melts the butter, get a forkfull n dip it in the butter. Yummy
