These days I try to avoid hot-button issues on Facebook. I’ll talk about them elsewhere—radio shows mainly—but not on Facebook. The article below perfectly describes why. Facebook has become perhaps the most important news outlet on the planet. But too often this conflicts with its original purpose: to stay in touch with friends, reconnect with old friends, and make new friends—with the result that Facebook has also become a great way to make enemies. Over the past couple of years I’ve lost two valued friendships due to stupid political “debates.” And those friendships ain’t coming back. Therefore, I’m not playing that game anymore. I’ll vent on the radio, but not here, and if I should post something political (or parapolitical) here from time to time, don’t even try to debate me. You’ll be talking to yourself.
