These days business is not always as it was - a very sad but true fact! As I am sure many of you are aware, Thermomix Australia has caused a stir amongst consumers by releasing a brand new model without any notice. As a consequence of that shemozzle, over 1,300 people wrote a letter to Thermomix, which is an incredible effort. * Also, Thermomix was one of the 2014 winners of the SHONKY AWARD. The CHOICE Shonky Awards put the spotlight on products and services that are sneaky, slippery, unscrupulous and sometimes unsafe. The risk of receiving an infamous Shonky encourages businesses to sharpen up their act and put consumers first,” says CHOICE chief executive, Alan Kirkland. “This year we had a record 1041 Shonky nominations from across Australia, which highlights the level of consumer concern about shonky products and services.” As well as the emails, CHOICE has also been trying to contact Thermomix directly. Here is an update from CHOICE in that regard --- ~~We have called Thermomix headquarters repeatedly over the past few weeks to tell them about the huge amount of support weve received for a resolution. Weve also asked them for a response to the campaign. Despite our efforts we still havent received a direct response. This is disappointing, especially for a company that is built on relationships. But this isnt the end. We have written a formal complaint to the ACCC asking for an investigation into Thermomixs actions, as this is possibly a case of misleading and deceptive behaviour. We also know that the ACCC has been in touch with a number of consumers regarding individual complaints so we look forward to seeing how this develops.
