These days every time you open your facebook home page, a new ice-bucket-challenge video pop-up. And so I was nominated to challenge myself on Thursday Aug. 28th by Yasaman Joon :*. At first I thought to myself, this is a great way to raise awareness about Lou Gehrigs Disease also known as ALS, a progressive neurodegenerative disease. A disease which causes the degeneration of motor neurons leading to disruption of controlled voluntary muscle movement. And if the mind and muscles don’t co-operate eventually you suffer from paralysis of lower/upper limb and respiratory muscles. Hence breathing becomes a problem and is usually the main reason for it’s vast majority of mortality. So with the help of my good friends Fiona & Jane we finally managed to make the video, nominating Ati Eh, JiuLin, Sam & Khashayar...but once I came back home although I truly believe this amazing idea caught a lot of attention and awareness, a part of me refused to put the video up! One of the many reasons I refuse to put up my video is demonstrated in the video I am sharing with you today. And I truly hope this video changes your perspective on the world around us… Such as the challenges that many underserved people experience on a daily basis (those who wish for a clean water, food and shelter to survive…WHILE suffering from SEVERAL chronic conditions simultaneously, ALS may be one.) and maybe YOU (including those who where nominated HINT HINT nudge nudge :D ) would come up with a brand new challenge to help us save the precious clean water that we take for granted. Now if you agree with the above statement, please take a minute to review the website below: unitedforparity.org
