These faithful old cathedral radios were the flying carpet of my youth in the Thirties & Forties...especially when tucked in bed on a sick day from school listening to everything from the afternoon Soaps [Life Can Be Beautiful, Pepper Youngs Family, Lorenzo Jones, etc] to the nightime hits [Jack Benny, Bing Crosby, Lux Radio Theater, etc]....you see it was that brief sliver of time called youth when a kid could access the entire world from under the safety of his bedcovers,,,knowing at the same time Mom was in the kitchen making you some hot soup...eventually you have to grow up and enter that world out there,,,but like Citizen Kanes rosebud, those bed side radios have never been forgotten
