These low key days at home are precious. Once we settle in, after some struggle, he stops seeking to be entertained and begins his independent study of play (creative projects, independent busy work) so much more imaginative and productive than I could facilitate for him. Our home is his working laboratory and the work is play. Its the essential piece we cant lose sight of in all of the hustle bustle of life and Im so glad we stayed home this weekend rather than going all the wheres. I tinker with the tools, the organization, and the how much is enough stuff of it. Somehow theres always too much, but its getting closer. Next week when hes with his dad, I would like to purge again because less is so much more when it comes to a functional space-- clutter stifles both creativity and play, Ive noticed. Ill rework some things and make space for all the stuff to come this season.
