These photos give a fairly decent example of the differences between a Coopers and a Sharp-shinned hawk. The first photo is a juvenile, so dont be fooled by the color variation in the breast and belly (juvenile markings) or the fact that it does not yet have the red eye (juvenile). The key details I see are rounded tail vs squared tail, short neck vs almost no neck, pseudo tuft vs no tuft/squared head vs round head, thicker yellow legs/feet vs very narrow yellow legs/feet. Quiz: So which is which?
