These photos should not be viewed by sensitive viewers. This is a township called Umlazi, reputable known as the biggest township in the country and in Africa as a whole. After 20 years of democracy we still witness these kinds of commercial sites that are totally unproductive. We tell the world that our country is suffering from the high rate of unemployment while we waste such establishment. I have developed hundreds of business concepts that will help to revitalise our townships, increase the appetite for tourists, address entrepreneurship challenges, improve our local economy, and provide job opportunities for the so called “unemployed youth”. Umlazi has been historically known for producing giants in the business world like Lefty who is now an owner of Total garage; Thalente Goqo the owner of the Executive hotel; Don mkwanazi; Jabulani Mkhwanazi, Mashamase; Siyabonga, Fani; to mention the few, up until today we still produce the giants like the likes of Mr Moses Tembe; Mr Sandile Zungu; Mr Sizwe Nxasane; Dr Nkosinathi Sishi; Mr Obed Mlaba; Mr Mlungisi Ngubane; Mr Senzo Meyiwa, the sport legends, academics, and the top politicians. We have thousands of durbanites residing in Gauteng, holding top positions and owning big business but doing too little to upgrade the life of the township they were all raised from. They say charity begins at home. When you compare Umlazi to Soweto, we should be ashamed. Umlazi has lot of potential, we just need to see it and tap into them. 50% of the commercial sites are now owned by foreigners, sooner or later there will be drug trafficking, destroying our own unemployed youth who can do anything to make ends meet. Every day you sit and try to engage councillors about the same issue and you become an idiot because they are all clueless about entrepreneurship. It is like you are talking Chinese to them, a foreign language. Everybody at Umlazi interpret entrepreneurship as tavern, tuck shop, saloon, and a car wash. I am challenging everyone who comes from this paralysed township to do something. We can revive this township and make it a better place for the generations to come. With more than 1.8 million residents, there is no way you could lose your investment. It is time we all stop existing and start living. I have a plan, strategy, concepts, and a vision, the only thing missing is the capital and investors. Where in the world have you seen such a huge township without a youth resource centre, business incubators, innovation hubs, rehabilitation centres, and absolutely no youth programs that will be trained to shape their own destiny. Where there is no vision, people perish. Is this township growing or dyeing?
