These pictures show Latakia, my beautiful home city, celebrating Christmas. At these times of war and devastation, Syrians, yet again, say No to death and embrace life with every breath. Even though I am not religious, I wish I were there to attend the Christmas mass, for in that lies more than a prayer, more than a religious belief - in that lies life with arms wide open, handing down occasional bliss to every Syrian child, mother, and father whove been subdued by death and destruction for nearly four unforgiving years. You might be able to take me out of Syria, have me scattered here and there, but one thing forever remains unaltered: my heart will always linger there, in the land lit by candles of hope and verve.
