These words are liberating truth and are so necessary for people of African decent worldwide and especially those in my circle of life. Stop the self-hate and hating me when I speak truth about Americas social constructs of institutional and structural racism. Begin to respect yourself by learning how to love yourself. Start by knowing who, what and where you come from and dont depend on traditional American history to teach you this. As the late Dr. John Henrik Clarke taught, in order to know the value of your history, you must begin learning about who you were prior to your capture from the Mother Land, the African Continent. You were innovated skilled workers who maintained families and land. Why do you think laws were made to keep you from reading and writing during slavery? Unfortunately your enslavement continues to this day, your children on the whole continue to receive a substandard primary education (yeah, Im saying it right here in Norwich) leading them through the school to prison pipeline which is profitable to the people you defend when they are exposed by those of us (black and white) who challange the system.
