They claim, We have too many judges as it is. Dont fill the vacancies. This is fairly common for the Republicans. In the Clinton years, they claimed that the Fourth Circuit had too little to do, and that it did not need to have vacancies filled. When George W. Bush was elected President, somehow that Fourth Circuit workload got miraculously larger, and suddenly those vacancies had to be filled right away. Once Barack Obama got elected, the Republicans resumed their claim that the Fourth Circuit had too many judges and not enough cases. It seems to me that there are two choices here: Either the Republicans are being disingenuous on this issue, or the election of a Democratic President drives down the crime rate.
