They didnt have instant video cameras on the two times I cheated vehicle vs passenger death in High School. Freshman year I was visiting my grandma and cousins in Madera. We were playing war, and a friend and I were across the street from the house on a 25 MPH street, that had houses on one side and farmland on the other. A car comes roaring down the street at 70+ MPH, swerves and hits his brakes to miss a dog and hits the drainage ditch flips sideways and then comes end over end right at me. People that saw the accident said that it actually said it went over half way to be on top of me then rolled back. My friend was hit by the car and wound up with severe, permanent brain damage and I backed into the barbed wire fence and my foot broke a board two feet behind me. Then a couple of days later when we were back in school, I was crossing Magnolia by the Tennis Courts and a speeding Mustang saw me in the crosswalk and locked up his brakes and slid across the double yellow line and stopped a foot from me. I spent the next 2 or 3 years waiting for #3 to take me out... I knew it had to be on the way, since they always come in threes. I guess number 3 was 40 years later when the steerage linkage broke on Hwy 199 between Calif and Oregon and I crossed to the far side of the road, hitting the oncoming car head on passenger side headlight to passenger side headlight at a combined 100 MPH and we all walked away with no real injuries.
