They had driven in their chartered truck from their Residence at the Lido Nite Club, Warri, to play in my neighboring village on Dec. 22nd, to mark the villages Students Day celebration. Mr. Franklin and I had talked all day about Lemmy Faith while he poked around with the girls from my hood and the talk about the East-Side bands was the main. The hiccup, though, had been how wed sneak ourselves in as band members while Ben Alaka and Essien Akpabio checked and rehearsed their instruments. Lemmy Faith had raised his hands toward Mr. Franklin as he was whisked in, and I had waved, and what had followed was toasting and all that -- at the backstage just by the band stand in that little classroom-turned Ballroom as Lemmy Faith chopped on the chords which had turned an almost empty audience into a crowded house.
