They say that blondes have more fun, but that was not the case for Blondie. Approximately three years old, this Golden Retriever mix arrived as a stray at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on February 18th. Blondie was wearing a stylish pink collar studded with rhinestones. The shelter staff was certain that someone would come looking for her, but no such luck for Blondie. The fact that she was heartworm positive made an adoption or rescue of Blondie less likely. On March 6th, Home At Last Rescue in Pennsylvania agreed to take Blondie, providing she could first receive her heartworm treatment. That same day, RADARs liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, Susan Blakeney, contacted us to see if we could help. Of course we could, which secured Blondies safety. On April 1st Blondie received her heartworm treatment. We learned this about Blondie from Susan: Shes gentle, genuine and sweet natured. Blondie is so cute and cuddly. She just wants her belly rubbed and a warm lap to get all snuggly in! Shes totally terrific with other dogs. This beauty is polite, mellow and affectionate. Drape her with a couple of little kids and shes in heaven!
