Things I have learned today because Kelly and I went to Cabaret - TopicsExpress

Things I have learned today because Kelly and I went to Cabaret yesterday: One: Liza Minelli is Judy Garlands daughter. Whoa. One point five: This strongly implies that my idea of what Judy Garlands life was like after the Wizard of Oz (essentially, they stopped filming and ten minutes later she died, in costume, with Toto at her side, still a virgin but probably kind of stoned) is pretty much completely off-base. Two: Liza also didnt play the Emcee in the thing. Here I was thinking they wrote the EmCee part for a guy, but then they cast against gender, and yowza, Liza was amazing! And now heres Alan Cumming being all simultaneously what they meant in the first place and hey, yowza, theres a guy playing Lizas role and it totally works! Three: Instead, Liza is basically Miss Saigon, only less tragic. Unless you think her predicament is more tragic. (Your opinions here. Hey Alicia, how does her lack of cluelessness skew the picture?) I almost certainly got the idea that Liza played the Emcee from a commercial for a reekingly cheap wine with a Germanic name that aired extensively on TV in Northern Alberta in the Seventies. Does any of this make sense, or am I incomprehensible?
