Things That Make You Go MMM. I was just thinking about that day oh so long ago when i was in elementary school and my 5th grade teacher in Shreveport, Louisiana Mrs. Grant said we are going to talk about Alaska today. She said, Theres no civilization, theres dogsleds no houses and the people who do live there live in igloos. We all laughed and hung onto every word she said. Little did I know that on the very same day when i got home from school my father would call the family together to tell us that we were moving to Alaska. My mouth dropped open and i began to cry. I told him what my teacher said. He grabbed my hands and said no its not like that. I said yes it is because MY teacher knows what she is talking about. My father tried hard over the next few months to convince me otherwise. I didnt believe him until i stepped off the plane at Elmendorf Air Force Base and said to myself, ...houses. To my surprise not only were there houses, there were stores, schools, cars, snow and a whole bunch of people from all across the US, from every culture you could imagine living in Alaska, Those people not only became my friends but my family. Those friends are still family and after more than 40 years I have to say thank you to Facebook for providing a platform for many of us to continue to reach out to each other oh so many years after that plane landed in Alaska. I am feeling truly blessed right now. Gotta love it.
