Things you learn when being a parent. You dont learn about it in school, or from other parents. Its an experience. For starters Patience. Well you become more patient. Time is everything. Theres no more last minute. You miss a second, and its gone. How important numbers are. Birth dates. Social Security Numbers. Weights. Heights. Temperatures. Important dates. Important phone numbers. Addresses. Germs are everything and nothing. Pacifier falls to the floor? Lick it clean. Child pees, poops, throws up on you? Get over it. Wash you hands afterwards it wont kill you. Blood? Clean it up and Put a bandaid on it. Toys in public area such as doctors office, park, etc. Thats death. Carry germx. Otherwise rub some dirt in it. The importance of doctors check ups and dentists office. Yeah, just go. No one wants their child hurting. Or sick. If you do, go to the doctor. The importance of hygiene. Baths, baths, and baths. No one wants their child to be that smelly kid in class. Thats a reflection on you. Sleep. Its gonna either happen or not. Take advantage of it. But before you doze off make sure you have that alarm on! Money management. Probably the hardest thing to do ever. Diapers, formula, clothes, medicines, food, its expensive. Get a job. Keep track of finances and have the costs of your bills aligned. How insurance works. Never ending phone calls. Reading plans. Not everyone suits you. How to register a child for school. Every document that is classified as important, have it with you. Make sure the shot record is up to date. How not to give in. Yes they are crying. They need to eat. They need to pick up after themselves and they need to take a bath. Dont spoil them too bad. Let them stand in the corner. Spank if necessary. Otherwise they will run all over you and have no respect for you or anyone else. Having someone with your exact personality, thoughts, wits, and humor. Its like facing your favorite worst enemy. Its like battling a battle within yourself. Picking out and finding what you dont like about yourself. How to lead. Your child looks up to you. They watch you. They listen to you. The way you hold yourself and act will be a reflection on how they hold themselves and act. Finally how to love. How to love someone so much you would do anything and everything to give them anything and everything. Hold them when they are sick. When they cry. When they just stare at you and smile. The laughter that gives you butterflies. Answering questions you dont even quite understand. Hearing them pray for you. Loving someone so much that their flaws are perfectly imperfect.
