Thinking Christians.... In much of Christendom, the mind does not seem to be all that critical to the Christian life, because we rely so much on traditions, customs, and culture, fueled by our emotions. For this cause, critics often portray Christians as both unreasonable and unreasoning. We dont confront life while were asleep. We confront life wide awake. Therefore our faith must be cognitive. Since our level of understanding determines the scope of our faith, any error in our understanding is sure to limit what may be experienced by us only by faith. Contrary to popular belief, reason is not the enemy of faith. Reason and faith belong together. Apart from faith, reason leads to futility. However, without reason, faith becomes a blind leap that embraces much ambiguity, resulting incompatibilities and contradictions. This is why there are over 30,000 different sects and denominations within Christendom . Therefore, we must use our spirit as well our mental faculty to connect cognitively with the life of God. Because the revelations of God are continuously unfolding, continuing until we have experienced the Lord for ourselves as the fulfillment of all revelation, the Biblical text contains many progressions. As we’re studying His word without, He is most assuredly working within, causing us to progress and come closer to Him. The fleshly state of the heart of fallen man produces the proverbial scales that cover the eyes of our minds. These scales must fall from our eyes for us to be able to read the Bible and connect with the Life of the Lord, and come together in Him. This book was never written to replace the Bible (no book can), but simply to remove the scales. payhip/b/oC5u
