Thinking a lot about the meaning of loyalty and respect today. My - TopicsExpress

Thinking a lot about the meaning of loyalty and respect today. My mom was the best example of loyalty...her 53 years at the same job shows that. I will never forget once growing up that I was in my room and she hollered upstairs that I had a visitor. I was probably about ten and not at all interested in the person at our door so I declined. My mom marched (yes, marched...she did that a lot) up to me and told me I would come down and visit with this sweet, lonely little girl. Message that I am not better than or above others was received! And that message continued to be sent for years. Funny thing that the beautiful Mary kimball, valedictorian of her class, star athlete, homecoming queen didnt think she was better than anyone or above anything. Once she was out pulling weeds on the campus lawn on a weekend...she then held the title of Senior Vice President and was just helping out. She had her flaws, but they were far outweighed by everything else. I rarely have a day that I dont thank God for such a pure, loving example of a lady in my mother. The standard she set is one I still aim at every day of my life...I fall short, but I dont stop aiming. This world is becoming increasingly scarce in loyalty and respect... I hope parents are still telling their children to be nice and respectful to all, and not encouraging them to ever think they are better than anyone else.
