Thinking of building a modular/multi-purpose bending station... What would you all think of taking a sheet of 3/4 ply, cutting that sucker in half and glue/screwing it together to make a 1.5 piece... and drilling holes (torn between 1/2 or 3/4 on a grid across the whole thing, buying dowels THAT wide and using it to get my bent-wood-lamination on the go? I can wrap EACH dowel in 2 packing tape to help resist glue-ups, and something similar to my form, I guess... or use a lubricant? Anyway... this way i can do some pretty complicated forms, as long as I plan appropriately for spring-back. I could use 2-3 pegs to form some pretty decent curves with a great deal of customization. What does everyone think? I figure itd break down nice and easy, not be too heavy or cumbersome, easy to tuck away against the wall and wouldnt cost a complete fortune... just the price of a Select or D-grade sheet of ply, packing tape and a single dowel rod for starters.
