Third commandment: Thou shall not use the name of the Lord thy God in vain. When people swear an oath of duty, and people use So help me God its invoking God in accepting & fulfilling the sworn duty. Most people forget that when theyre in the position. They forget the higher reason why theyre placed in that position. Some people eye on the benefits & stature. Then on the job or duty , some abdicate in ways to protect their turf or tenure. Or choose whats popular, get mileage or financial rewards. Some do wayward ways as harassment, unjust fixation or entrapment or violate laws or engage in corruption. When admonished of their offense, its good to muster courage to admit the wrong. But to muster audacity to invoke Gods name to convince innocence have two angles. One if someones telling the truth. But if not, thats creating additional jeopardy to the prime offense or crime. On a moral context, it shows more evidence on lack of conscience aggravating offense. In psychology, it shows if a person is a pathological liar. Depending on gravity and length of time, add to consequences of the lies out of self-preservation or self-acquittal, such pattern indicate the unfolding of a borderline or onset of schizoid personality. Detached from the universal reality; and buried in an exclusive & personal reality to perpetuate self. Crime becomes self-evident in the manifestations of the accused or suspect with the linear progressions of the pathogenic thinking, speaking & acting. I coin pathogenic to mean activating pathology imbedded in the genetic DNA which will never improve from worse to at least good inspite lifetime rehabilitation, incarceration or medical or spiritual therapy. Its character etched in metal. How to measure it? Dealing with adversity & ambiguity will show it. In hypothetical, simulated or real life situations. Be careful in choosing friends, partners, confidantes, employees, moreso officers on sensitive positions regardless if private, government, associations, religious or civic organizations. Even families.
