Third time lucky – I found it! First time a year ago by public transport I failed. Second time I was supposed to go with a friend but it was pi**ing with rain and he didn’t turn up or I didn’t turn up or something. Last night after work I was determined to find it. I google mapped it, walkit’d it and streetviewed it and set out, walking, in search of a secret location in Regents Park after dark. Just as the light was fading I spotted it from the Outer Circle across a field. The Hub, where once a month a group of doughty astronomers meet to set up their telescopes and stargaze into a huge sky in the middle of light polluted London. I’m so glad I finally made it to meet an interesting crowd of fellow astro nutters, some teaching, some learning, and some I already knew! Plus I also achieved my aim of arriving just in time to see the International Space Station pass overhead in the darkening sky. Magic.
