Thirty years ago Klaus Nomi, one of my favorite "New Wave" - TopicsExpress

Thirty years ago Klaus Nomi, one of my favorite "New Wave" artists, died. Klaus Nomi, was a German countertenor noted for his wide vocal range and an unusual, otherworldly stage persona. Nomi was known for his visionary theatrical live performances, heavy make-up, and unusual costumes. His songs were equally unusual. He worked with David Bowie, Joey Arias, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Keith Haring. Nomi died August 6, 1983 at the age of 39, as a result of complications from AIDS. He was one of the first celebrities to die from AIDS. His ashes were scattered over New York City.
