This 1967 song by Lee Hazlewood with Nancy Sinatra has been described as one of the most druggiest tunes to grace the Billboard Top 40 (it peaked at #26 in early 1968). It came on the heels of more country-oriented tunes penned by Hazlewood and sung in duet with Nancy including their other hit, Jackson. Hazlewood existed in his own genre in the late 60s to early 70s in which the worlds of psychedelia and country music collided in various unusual forms. Some Velvet Morning is the apex of his one-man genre. This video comes from a 1967 Nancy Sinatra TV special. The song has been redone many times since then with cover versions ranging from the heavy sounds of Vanilla Fudge in 1969 to my personal favorite by Primal Scream featuring Kate Moss from 2002. If you can tell me exactly what these lyrics mean, please do so! Good luck finding the meaning.
