This Christmas, we at MAP and Publika commissioned 6 artists to create special trees to be installed in our central boulevard. The “White Doves of Christmas” Tree is the creation of Nizam Abdullah, the sculptor. Nizam is known for his metalworks and sculptural furniture and is the man behind quite a few pieces here in Publika. He was inspired for this piece by the dove, a popular symbol of Christmas, and global symbol of peace. The tree is an assemblage of individual doves made out of laser-cut galvanized mild steel, designed so that when viewed from a different angle, the doves morph into angels. You can see more of Nizam’s metalwork at his store, Nizamsculpture , at the Art Row. Come see the tree – and stop by the shop and pay him a visit. :) Our Publika Christmas trees installation will be up throughout the month of December.
