This Deseret News editorial offers an interesting object lesson in deceitfulness, false guilt-mongering, and the art of plausible deniability. Clearly the intended message is that opposition to the illegal-alien invasion in Texas (and elsewhere in the country), and belief in the notion of enforcement of immigration law, is tantamount to Naziism and that persons so disposed are harsh, hostile, non-compassionate, inhumane, and otherise devoid of morals. First, the premise of the papers argument is false, and the paper knows it. The fact is that the vast majority of these individuals illegally crossing into Texas from Mexico are not actually children, are not starving, and are not in imminent danger at home. It is well established that the actual reason they currently are flooding into this country is Obamas promise that he will not deport them (and a corrupt congress that willfully allows him to get away with it, and corrupt groups that are abetting the illegal-alien invasion for selfish reasons and without regard for society around them). The certain death at home claim is a lie; it is part of a ploy to manipulate the emotions of gullible Americans until eventually they abandon U.S. immigration law altogether and, in turn, the nations sovereignty which many American servicemen have died to protect. But notice how the paper doesnt utter these lies and false insinuations and accusations directly. Rather, it does so in a more oblique manner, using psychological manipulation, subtle suggestion, and other devices. And notice that if push ever were to come to shove, the paper and its owner could plausibly deny ever having set out to mislead and deceive its mostly LDS readership. For example, it could say, We never said it is tantamount to Naziism; we only said that it is REMINISCENT of Naziism. And, We werent actually SUGGESTING that the 12th Article of Faith is immoral; we only were asking whether history will judge it so, and, We were never actually seeking to mislead the reader into believing that those illegally crossing teh border into Texas are bona fide refugees; we simply were listing several, historical refugee situations. Yeah, right. This editorial, like many of the DNs editorials in opposition to the enforcement of immigration law, is a model of deceit, manipulation, plausible deniability, abuse of trust (D&C 121), and weakness of faith. The tares are well entrenched among the wheat. Evil is being called good, and good, evil. Evil men with selfish, impure, ulterior motivations are seeking to cover their sins and to hide their counsel from the Lord. Some rationalize that they are Lying for the Lord and that they therefore are justified (actually, there is no such thing in bona fide LDS doctrine as lying for the Lord). Corruption is everywhere. The last days are here. But Truth is Truth and cannot be annihilated; God eventually will burn the tares among the wheat; and those who loveth and maketh a lie and pervert the right way of the Lord in wait to deceive, will be banished to hell for eternity. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
