This Months Return to Lovecrafts Country.....Kingsport. As most know last month we explored Lovecrafts famed Dreamlands (part two from a previous visit in August). It was a great month. This month we are visiting that quant but haunted seaside town known as Kingsport. Another of Lovecrafts fictional locations set in old Massachusetts not far from Arkham. The town first figured in Lovecrafts tale The Terrible Old Man (1921) and was modeled after the real town of Marblehead also in Massachusetts. Though Lovecraft first conceived of the town before ever visiting Marblehead. His love for the Marblehead certainly helped to flesh out Kingsport for further stories. The town was founded in 1639 and its history included shipbuilding, pirates & witches. Some of whom were even hung there. Kingsport appeared in several of Lovecrafts tales many of which well have up as topics this month. It also makes for a nice transition as it appeared in a few of the Dreamland tales...
