This National Post headline gets it backwards. If First Nations go to court against Enbridge, the City of Burnaby fines Kinder Morgan for taking chainsaws into a conservancy or Dogwood Initiative organizers collect signatures in support of a citizens initiative -- thats called UPHOLDING the law. If anyone is undermining the law, its our own federal government. The Conservatives dismantled environmental regulations, broke election rules, reneged on climate commitments, ignored constitutional obligations to First Nations, cultivated corruption in the Senate, signed away our sovereign rights to foreign corporations and publicly attacked the judiciary. No wonder pipeline companies find social licence elusive: the public has lost faith in the basic fairness of the system. Whose fault is that?
