This November 20th is Trans Remembrance Day, a day that was created exactly for reasons such as this. Tatiana Fernandez, an Everyday Latin America photographer, documents a march for justice after a young trans woman was brutally beaten and later died in the Dominican Republic. It is despicable that people will kill or cause harm and pain to others because of how they choose to live their life. This tragedy reinforces the importance of continuing to document trans issues and to spread awareness about the discrimination and violence they face; and to fight to create space for them in society through education of trans issues to the larger public that in so many parts of the world continues to marginalize them and treat them as sub-humans. So brave of this woman, this mother, to stand up for her daughter, to continue her fight and to not be silenced. Thank you so much Tatiana for sharing this with us!!!
