This Sunday morning on my normal birding jaunts, i was closely following a hoopoe couple which lead me to an old leafless almond tree. So engrossed was i in capturing the romance of the hoopoes that i failed to notice this Shikra male perched on a nearby ashoka tree, awaiting its prey (a parrots fledglings in their nest). Disturbed by my movements, the bird left its vigil and flew silently overhead to perch on the same tree as the hoopoe couple . so silent was its flight that I didnt notice it till the Hoopoes got disturbed and flew away! I managed to make a dozen images of this bird which neither showed any fear nor anxiety at my presence. All I could make out from the cold stare was the words dont Mess with me Shikra Male Coimbatore Dec 14
