This Week at Lees-McRae December 1 – 7 Bobcat Celebrations Lees-McRae students James Smith, James Galvani, Cole Chester and Lauren Lewis, along with faculty members Carol Almond and Robert Thrasher, attended NCAAHPERD-SM in Raleigh, N.C. This conference is the states membership meeting in the Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Dance and Sport Management divisions. The Conference created opportunities for the students to learn recruiting skills and engage in presentations such as “Mass Games,” “Developing Character in Physical Education, and The Effect of Peer Leadership on Collegiate Sport Team Cohesion. We will provide coffee, tea, hot chocolate, soft drinks, assorted snacks, fruit, cheese dip and other goodies to help you study. If you are participating in the study night/sleep over we ask that you be in the library no later than midnight. The front doors will be locked at midnight and anyone not here at midnight or anyone who leaves after the doors are locked will not be readmitted until the library opens at 8 a.m. the next morning. Quiet hours will be enforced at all times during the study night/sleep over so please be respectful of those who are studying and/or sleeping. ________________________________________ Student Art Show On Display Through December 11 in King-Shivell Gallery Stop by King-Shivell to view Peer to Peer, a show focused on allowing students to represent their respective disciplines and expertise in art. The show features a variety of mediums including painting, mixed media, collage, photography, drawing and digital. ________________________________________ Christmas Break | December 12 – January 10 Quiet Hours 24-Hour quiet hours will go into effect at midnight on Friday, December 5 and remain in effect until Thursday, December 11. Building Closings All students must leave campus 24 hours after their last exam or by 11 a.m. on December 12, whichever comes first. All Residence Halls will close at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 12. Residence Halls will reopen on Sunday, January 10, 2015 at 3 p.m. Security officers and/or residence life staff will make periodic rounds through the residence common areas during Christmas Break. Students Returning in Spring 2015 Students who are not graduating in Fall 2014 and will be returning for the Spring semester should follow normal break procedures. Students must empty all refrigerators and unplug all appliances, take out all trash, close all windows and blinds, turn off all lights, and lock all doors as you leave. Residence Life staff members will inspect all residence hall rooms during breaks to conduct safety inspections. Students Not Returning in Spring 2015 Students graduating in Fall 2014 and/or students not returning to Lees-McRae for the Spring semester are required to check out of their rooms and return their room key to the designated Residence Life staff. Improper checkout will result in a $75 fine and a $35 lock change fine. Students not returning must do the following before scheduling a staff member to check them out: 1. Remove all of your belongings from your room and Residence Hall – please do not pile items in the hallway. 2. Reassemble and unbunk the beds, and have all furniture in the room. 3. Clean the room – sweep, mop, and/or vacuum floors. Thoroughly clean out drawers (wipe with a wet cloth) and closets. 4. Contact your Resident Assistant or Resident Director to check your room and accept your key. Check out times should be posted on your RA’s door. 5.
