This Week’s Outdoor Fun Fact: Hydrate! In cardio activity (especially outdoors) your body loses water by both respiration and perspiration. Both of these methods speed up during exercise. Remember on a cold winter day, how you can see your breath…yup that’s moisture. In addition, your body’s is equipped with a natural AC system. The ladies’ glow sparks up and guys, you just sweat like a man. It keeps you cool during the activity…but be careful with the water loss. Football season is upon us. During one game a running back can expect to lose up to 5 pounds of water…a lineman can lose up to 9 pounds of water; that’s over a gallon! In some cases during summer training camps it is not uncommon for football players to be on an IV between plays to keep up with the water loss. Because most of us don’t know how and can’t afford to keep an intravenous therapy drip on us, we recommend drinking water. Keep hydrated outdoor peeps! outdoorelement
