This Yellow-billed Kite was euthanized by our vet this morning. The poor thing was in a very bad way after being shot with a shotgun. X-rays revealed pellets lodged in the chest as well as fragments around the shattered left radius. There was a lot of trauma to the left side with numerous open wounds. The bird was incredibly weak with a lot of internal damage. It is hard to imagine what reason (if any) the shooter had for shooting this bird, and causing it so much suffering. We aim to find out who the culprit is as the offence is punishable.
