This afternoon Becky Langan and I went to a McDonalds drive thru for lunch (I dont normally eat there but we were running errands and it was quick and easy), and entered the parking lot through the back entrance. A car coming from the other direction saw me and sped up to cut me off but I got to the line just ahead of him. The old codger threw up his hands at me and motioned at me that he thought I had jumped ahead of him. I just waved at him. As we approached the pay window I could see him still muttering at me when I glanced in the rear view mirror. I thought to myself, heres an old guy out by himself for lunch, having a conniption over what should have been at the very most a minor inconvenience. I mean, I think he had to wait an extra 40 seconds because of me. It would have been easy to write him off as some grouchy old kook. But I decided to go the other way. I paid for his lunch when I got to the pay window. As I drove away after picking up our food I could see the kid at the window explaining to him that the guy in front of him bought his lunch. I hope he cheered up a little. I know it cheered me up a lot.
