This afternoon I went to Price Chopper to buy some groceries. While I was in there shopping, a truck parked next to my car with a confederate stars and bars flag flying off their antenna. I guess my question is this. Why in the world would someone who lives in New York state be flying the confederate flag? So here you go Mister owner of the rusty pick up truck that parked next to my car, a free history lesson. The confederacy lost the war. New York state fought to uphold the union and you sir live in New York state. Lincoln freed the slaves, women won the right to vote, gays can marry. Black people can attend the same schools as whites, ride wherever they want on the bus, use the same restrooms and drink from the same water fountains as white folks do. They can sit wherever they want at the lunch counter and demand to be served there. People like yourself may long for the good old days when things were different but it is never going to happen. Deal with it! That confederate flag you so proudly display is a symbol of everything that was wrong with this country and is despised by defenders freedom and human rights and is held in as much contempt as the Nazi flag is around the world. You sir and those who think like you have had your day and I and a whole lot of other Americans cannot wait until Dixie is played for the last time.
