This afternoon, I went to see Effie Gray, Rihard Laxtons film with Emma Thompson, Dakota Fanning, Greg Wise, David Suchet, Claudia Cardinale, Julie Walters and other good actors.. The film which is about the marriage of John Ruskin and Euphemia Gray and the love triangle with John Everett Millais, is worth seeing to get to know about the characters relationships and the growing distance between Effie and John Ruskin. Effie was born in 1828 near Perth, in Scotland, and grew up in the house where John Ruskins grandfather took his own life. Ruskin sees in Effie as a muse and their marriage is not consumated and Effie suffers from depression. John E Millais s growing interest for Effie will win her heart. Good film, good cast, but perhaps I would have liked to know more about how Ruskins relationship with Effie developed before their engagement.
