This article in the Brimbank Weekly raises very real concerns about how the Coalitions funding cuts will affect the West. The previous Federal Labor Government committed just under $1million to programs in Melbournes west as a a part of the National Crime Prevention Fund. One of these programs would have provided $300,000 to install CCTV cameras in Clarke St Sunshine, a public transport hub and notorious hot-spot of anti-social behaviour. Remember, this is coming from a Government that thinks it’s OK to spend taxpayers’ money on weddings and cross-country junkets. At the same time, they are cutting millions of dollars from organisations that aim to fight crime. It’s obscene. Tony Abbott needs to step in and confirm that Brimbank City Council will get to keep this funding. If he doesnt, the consequences will be felt across the whole community. It’s time the Liberals showed they gave a damn about people west of the Maribyrnong. brimbankweekly.au/story/1791639/sunshine-camera-cash-in-doubt-safety-fears-rise/?nav=Y2F0X2lkLzEx
