This article is on the Leicester Council website. A nice piece, but as we know, the plaque was not paid for by FoJCM, but donated by our dear Glenn. leicester.gov.uk/your-council-services/lc/growth-and-history/blueplaques/blueplaquespeople/josephmerrick/ ....The plaque is now displayed at Moat Community College, Maidstone Road, Leicester LE2 0TU. This is the site of the former Leicester Union Workhouse, where Merrick spent some of his life. The plaque is located on the outside wall next to the college Reception, but the College request that members of the public dont enter the site during school hours. Well, the latter doesnt actually apply, as its not on display, but instead, safely tucked away until developments are finished on the school site. It will then go back up.
