This article says Facebook experimented on its readers and discovered that it could manipulate peoples emotions by selectively posting friends positive or negative statuses. My comments: 1. DUUUUH!!! Each one of us on Facebook has the ability to influence our friends with our statuses, which is why I mostly post uplifting, encouraging, or thought-provoking comments. Theres a time to share our sadness and grief with the multitudes, but in general, Ill spare you my occasional bad moods. :-) 2. Facebook may not have broken the law by manipulating the posts they fed us for research purposes, but they were unethical to do so without our knowledge. 3. We all need to be very aware how easily, cleverly, and subtly were influenced by media, especially on the news for political purposes and on the Internet for advertising purposes. Thoughts?
