Dentistry in Australia All overseas trained dentists who wish to work in Australia are required to have their dental qualifications assessed for equivalence of standards, and be registered as a dentist in Australia,The Australian Dental Council (ADC). It Has 3 steps : 1. Initial assessment of document 2.Written examination 3.Practical examination. After the initial assessment of qualifications, candidates must undertake both a Written Examination and a Practical Examination.The Written Examination is held twice each year in March and September, and the Practical Examination is held twice each year in June and November. Candidates must successfully complete the Written Examination prior to sitting the Practical Examination. Language proficiency: As part of the eligibility to sit ADCs practical examination, overseas trained dental practitioners must successfully complete either of the following English language tests at the specified level: the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) academic module, with a minimum score of seven in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking); or the Occupational English Test (OET) , with grades of A or B in each of the four sub-tests (listening, reading, writing and speaking).
