This book is one of the most enduring account of exploits in the Antarctic, published in 1922, and written by a survivor of Captain Scott’s Terra Nova Expedition. “Cherry” was one of the crew’s youngest members and won his place on the trip after donating £1,000 toward its cost. The book describes Scott’s winter expedition in July 1911 to capture eggs of the Emperor penguin, as well as the much longer ill-fated journey to the South Pole later that summer, which took Scott’s life
