This business of womanhood is a heavy burden in Nigeria. The pervasiveness of female disadvantage is one of the most interesting and least understood features of economic life comparing boys and girls well being in Nigeria is like making a choice between sweet and sour. Men and boys have their lives to lead and girls and women theirs. Nevertheless, girls and women in Africa face unequal chances for education, less inheritance and ownership of assets, discrimination in employment and occupations, violence at home and in public spaces, and limited political representation. These add up to unambiguously diminished welfare and capacity to fulfil their life aspirations. Gender matters for women, but it also matters for men. Much of our population has experienced long term stagnation and declines in income and general standard of living from political elites leadership with poor policies that have yelled nothing but a journey from sorrowful, hungry, and frustrating life to early, painful and diseased death. Gender, in my views requires analysis because a common outcome of the gendering of social activity is an unequal and inefficient distribution, between men and women, of the capabilities for realising well-being in Nigeria. Many if not most people would agree that women and girls are disadvantaged in life relative to men and boys. We have had men calling the shoot for a long time without their policies improving peoples lives, Perhaps reversing the situation depends on changing structures of gender. The skeptic might want to put down this write up as nonsense that gender and economic growth in Nigeria has nothing with each other. But lets consider this argument like this, Nigerian economies is rich but so many are poor because of high level of corruption, men are more corruptible than women, men dominate most of our government and civil service position in the country therefore the solution is to encourage and campaign for more representation of women in Nigerian governmental services. Many recent studies concluded that greater women’s rights and more equal right and more participation in public life by women and men can be associated with cleaner business and better governance. Basically the report shows that where the influence of women in public life is greater, the level of corruption is lower, so women can be an effective force for the rule of law and good governance . Woman and economic growth can help to fuel development and poverty reduction in our state and our country. Ensuring that this growth helps the poorest people who are women and children lift themselves out of poverty will require investments and policy changes from all governmental projects. Government should focus on access to reliable and affordable financial services that is critical for families and businesses to invest in new opportunities and to protect themselves against unexpected shocks. Women especially should be targeted with these services and the technology to take advantage of them, such as mobile phones. Support for micro-businesses can spark economic productivity, but even more critical is support for small and medium-sized enterprises, which make up the majority of Nigerian businesses and are often headed by women. A strengthened transportation, communication and energy infrastructure would enhance the feasibility and profitability of regional and national trade live and work), development partners should in particular encourage public and private investments in agricultural productivity and agribusiness.
