This clip from the last movie of the Hobbit trilogy speaks to me very deeply as a metaphor for the spiritual reality I see at work in our world in current events. With Gandalf as all those who suffer for their faith, Radagast as all those who have the ability to make a diffence, however small; Lady Galadriel as the Virgin Mary, the means of Christs entry into the world; Light Galadrial as God the Father, whose commands while curt are necessary; Lord Elrond as the Holy Spirit, wielding the sword of truth; Saruman as the proud clergy of all the worlds religions, cloaked in piety and charged with a divine mission, but covetous of the power the Sauron, as Satan of course, holds over mankind, whose leaders, judges and warriors are portrayed by the Nazgul, who for every one who falls, more rise to take their place.
