Great , am so glad i chose it" Found this via tripadvisor , when looking for a place to stay to explore this part of yorkshire, Owner contacted us in plenty of time prior to our visit, to sort details and keys etc, and to let us know about the welcome pack of Milk, Eggs, and bread. We were dus to arrive about 2pm but due to accident on motorway , arrived about 6 , owner met us, there was a perfectly chilled bottle of rose in the fridge and some cup cakes. The wine was most welcome, as ours was now warm. this small but ideal for a couple cottage has everything you need to unwind and switch off, There was an extensive library of books, magazines and Dvds. Even an Ipod dock Whilst it was a spring weekend , still needed heating which is mega efficient, and we were soon warmed up after a long day in york. Nearby chinese (less than 2 mins walk) is great if you dont fancy cooking , but is better as take away , as as there is plenty of crockery, and a dish washer is not a problem . Nice touches like tea bags and coffee being there are also a plus (de vere take note). My partner and i are seasoned and cynical travellers, so we go prepared and carry our own supplies. No corners have been cut with how this cottage has been modernised, yet the charm is still there. We are going to return next time we are in the area, cant recommend alma cottage highly enough . don m, rickmansworth, May 2013
